 The Temples of Guangzhou -- where religion survived 

 

GZ Pagoda

One striking difference between northern and southern China is in the vibrancy of religious practice.  While temples in the north are often either empty or quiet, they are full of life in southern cities like Guangzhou.  This pagoda is located at the Bright Filial Piety Temple (光孝) and is over 1,000 years old..
